Welcome to MIYA Innovators COLab, where users shape innovation that solves challenges!

We are proud to announce that MIYA is in the process of establishing a new Living Lab – which is an open innovation environment in a real-life setting in which user-driven innovation is fully integrated within the co-creation process of new services, products and societal infrastructure.

MIYA partnered with Department of Science and Innovation through its entity, Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), to bring a community-based Living Lab pilot programme that intends to use ICT and innovation as key drivers for viable solutions that tackle challenges faced by the Eastern Free State’s disadvantaged communities.

PURPOSE OF THE LAB

MIYA Innovators Lab purpose is to provide an innovation support programme for local innovators and stimulate the development of simple and cost-effective prototypes (created by the community) responding to the community’s problems. Secondly, the Lab’s purpose is to enhance the state and use of ICT in education sector. 

Targeted beneficiaries

  • Local Innovators and Entrepreneurs
  • Youth aged between 18 to 35
  • University and TVET colleges students
  • Teachers and Learners in basic education

Expected Outcome

  • Training of beneficiaries on design thinking, entrepreneurship, coding and other future fit skills.
  • Development of apps and portals meeting the needs of the community
  • Prototype development
  • Market ready product development
  • Support and creation of startup companies
